The BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Dance & Musical Theatre course at Dancebox Studios & Theatre Works is an auditioned programme of study. We use this audition process to assess the suitability of candidates for the rigorously physical dance training involved in our programmes. To apply for the BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Dance & Musical Theatre programme, applicants will need to complete the Dancebox audition process and also apply via UCAS. To begin the college audition process, please complete the form below.

The audition will begin with a Ballet class which will last for approximately 40 minutes and will be conducted in a group setting. This will be followed by some short technical Jazz exercises and a Commercial routine. This section of the audition will also be in a group setting and will last for approximately 40 minutes.
All candidates are required to present a short dance solo. This solo can be performed in a style of the candidate’s choice (Jazz, Commercial, Street, Lyrical etc.) and should be no more than one minute in duration. Please bring music on a phone or device and ensure that any cases are removed from phones before you are called to perform your solo. Please make sure music is downloaded and is not being streamed to prevent any unwanted stoppages during the performance.
Candidates are also required to present a song. Songs should be a minimum of one verse & chorus, and no more than 3 minutes in length. Songs will be sung to a backing track in the audition. Please bring backing tracks on a phone or device and ensure that any cases are removed from phones before your song. Please make sure music is downloaded and is not being streamed to prevent any unwanted stoppages during the performance.
All candidates will have a short interview with the panel.
For the Jazz/Ballet dance rounds, female identifying candidates should wear a leotard and tights, with appropriate footwear. Hair should be in a bun for Ballet and off the face for Jazz. Male identifying candidates should wear tights, shorts or tight fitting sweatpants/jazz pants and a tight-fitting top, with appropriate footwear.
For Commercial, candidates should be in suitable attire with clean trainers.
For the singing round, all candidates should be well-presented in suitable audition attire (you will have time to change out of dance wear)
Candidates may also bring water in a non-glass bottle with a closable lid and a small towel into the audition room.
