Dance and musical theatre are physical activities and appropriate physical contact between students and teachers in class is essential to high quality training. Teachers can make physical contact with a student to illustrate a concept or to adjust a student’s posture and alignment. Dancebox Juniors recognises that such physical contact is a potentially complex area; and the school also fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding students and teachers and for protecting their welfare. The following principles and procedures are in place to fulfil the studio’s obligations: 1. Contact by the teacher is made with awareness of the needs of each individual, to assist the dancer in correcting placement 2. All teachers will treat any physical contact with due sensitivity and care, and with due regard for the wishes of the student 3. Teachers will be mindful of location and avoid situations where they are isolated with a student and all private classes will be held in studios with windows and/or with the parent/carer present.

Dancebox Juniors may occasionally photograph or film classes for advertising and publicity material. Clients grant permission for the display, distribution, publication, transmission or otherwise of any photographs/video footage taken of them for use in material that includes but may not be limited to print, digital images or social media. If for any reason you do not wist for your child's image to appear this can be noted on our system at registration. First names of children may occasionally be used to celebrate student success.

Dancebox Juniors does not accept responsibility for any items lost or stolen whilst on the premises. We strongly recommend all personal belongings, coats, shoes, uniform etc. clearly shows the student’s name. All unnamed and/or unclaimed items will be donated to a charity at the end of each term.

Students should arrive promptly and attend classes regularly. During class, students are expected to listen and if a child is causing disruption, they may be asked to leave the lesson. We do not tolerate bullying of any kind and any student found to be causing distress or bullying others may (after appropriate intervention) be asked to leave the school. Mobile phones are not to be used during classes and must be stored away on silent mode.

Students under 16 years old are not allowed to leave the studio unaccompanied unless consent to leave has been given by parents. Please inform your teacher of any injuries before class commences.
